How to find your place in a cross stitch chart
Return to a bold grid line, compare a completed shape, then recount in tens. Mark stitches in Track progress as you go.
Turn a photo into an editable cross stitch pattern, or start with a blank chart. Adjust every stitch, print a clear pattern, and track your progress—all in your browser.
Details below update with the chart.
Finish or tape fraying edges. Fold the fabric vertically and horizontally to find its center, then align it with the chart center.
Separate the working strands shown above. If floss repeatedly fuzzes or knots, use a shorter length and check the needle eye.
Each filled square is one full cross. Match its symbol to the color key. Use the bold 10 × 10 grid lines as counting checkpoints.
For one-color rows, work the first diagonal across, then return to complete each cross. Keep every top diagonal pointing the same way.
Pull only until the floss lies flat. If the cloth puckers, loosen the stitches and hoop tension.
Work nearby areas first. Long carries can show through, distort the cloth, or catch the needle; end the thread and restart instead.
Weave the tail under several stitches, then trim it. Follow care labels before washing. When pressing is allowed, place the work face down on a clean towel.

Ease the knot open with the needle tip, untwist the floss, and continue with a shorter length.
Check its top diagonal. A reversed cross catches the light differently.
Loosen the thread or hoop. Stitches should rest on the fabric without pulling its holes inward.
